Rural Development Institue

A complete web site redesign for Seattle-based non-profit organization, Rural Development Institute.

The main feature includes a flash slideshow and a dynamic world map showing the regions that RDI has helped citizens gain land rights. This xml driven flash app is entirely managed through ExpressionEngine and is simple update without any technical knowledge.

tools: ExpressionEngine, jQuery, flash AS3, XML, XHTML/CSS

TPM Polltracker

Talking Points Memo wanted a dynamic charting application that could read an xml file of poll results and display trend lines, averages, poll result data. They wanted to give the user the ability to filter candidates, poll types, and pollsters, as well as having a tactile ability to zoom in on date ranges. They also required that users were able to embed the charts in their blog with custom settings. This project was very challenging and really fun to work on. Al, the developer at TPM, learned ruby so that he could create the application that drives the TPM polltracker. Very impressive and you can learn more about his process here.

tools: flash as 3.0, xml

StrangerMart

The Stranger wanted a fun and cute look for their ‘half off’ local business portal of their website.

Sparrow Songs

Alex was starting and ambitious project with his friend Michael where they would make one short film a month, every month, for one year.

He wanted a site that was simple and elegant, where the videos were the main focus of the experience. This site is essentially one page and provides a great immersive experience for watching short films on line.

tools: textpattern, jquery, xhtml, css

myStrangerFace

The Stranger decided to step into the millenium and add a profile/social networking function to their site (actually, they were working on this for a realllly long time). As they were getting close to finishing the backend of this monster, they needed some help finessing the look and feel of myStrangerFace. You’ll need to create an account to get the full experience.

(note. Many features have yet to be deployed as of this post.)

Stranger Ticketing Service

The Stranger was launching their own ticketing service for local venues. It needed to be easy to use and cheap unlike those other guys in the business. I designed the logo, layout and user interface. Fun!
