A complete web site redesign for Seattle-based non-profit organization, Rural Development Institute.

The main feature includes a flash slideshow and a dynamic world map showing the regions that RDI has helped citizens gain land rights. This xml driven flash app is entirely managed through ExpressionEngine and is simple update without any technical knowledge.

Talking Points Memo wanted a dynamic charting application that could read an xml file of poll results and display trend lines, averages, poll result data. They wanted to give the user the ability to filter candidates, poll types, and pollsters, as well as having a tactile ability to zoom in on date ranges. They also required that users were able to embed the charts in their blog with custom settings. This project was very challenging and really fun to work on. Al, the developer at TPM, learned ruby so that he could create the application that drives the TPM polltracker. Very impressive and you can learn more about his process here.

Alex was starting and ambitious project with his friend Michael where they would make one short film a month, every month, for one year.

He wanted a site that was simple and elegant, where the videos were the main focus of the experience. This site is essentially one page and provides a great immersive experience for watching short films on line.

Paul Rucker is a Seattle based artist and musician. He finally wanted a proper site to display his large body of work. This site includes multiple slideshow galleries, video footages of past work, activism information, and the ability to listen to entire albums and download them in digital format for a donation amount of your choice.

Keith wanted a site with all the bells and whistles. So he got sliding navs, drop down windows, sliding galleries, ajax loaded content, and lightboxes. This was project was FUN!

Alex was finishing his MFA in filmmaking at UCLA and needed a website for his short film “Blue Boy”. His biggest concern was the quality and delivery of the movie trailer. To solve for this, I set up browser and device detection so the site would automatically deliver the best video format without the user having to install any plugins.

Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. That’s long. This site featured a slideshow gallery of upcoming films. During the festival, films that had already screened would automatically be removed from the home page gallery.

Peter asked me if I could help him build a photography portfolio site that was built in flash but easy to update. I developed a simple system where he could upload photos to his web server and it would automatically update his site.

The Seattle Mayor’s office was launching a ‘green’ campaign to reduce the carbon footprint of every Seattleite. I was tasked to design a site that was fresh and friendly.

This site won a bronze Pollie in the Local Public Affairs Website category.

A few years after the release of our last album “Sun Q”, I decided I wanted the IQU (my band) site to be an archive of all our past work. I also wanted to have our entire catalog available to listen to for free, so I created a custom xml driven flash mp3 player. I asked my friend (and amazing designer) Mike Guss to create a new look and header for our site.

Before the 2006 mid-term elections, Republicans controlled the Senate, the House, and the executive branch. Remember those days? Yuk. Anyways, Constituent Dynamics (a Seattle based polling outfit) and RT Strategies (a bipartisan public affairs research group) had a feeling the Dems were going to take back the House in a BIG way. They decided to poll the top 60 contested seats during the 10 weeks before the election. They asked me to design and develop an interactive site to show the polling results along with demographic data in the district. We wanted to make sure that we provided enough data to satisfy the nerdiest of number crunchers, while making it fun for the non-political types.

Although our results were a tad more optimistic than the actual outcome, the Republicans did get their ass served.

This site won a silver Pollie award in the National Public Affairs Website category.
